OB DESCRIPTION FOR CLEANING TECHNICIAN
JOB TITLE: Janitorial Technician
INTERNAL CONTACT: All staff
REPORTS TO: Site supervisor/site manager
EXTERNAL CONTACT: as required (clients etc.)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Cleaning Technician must have an understanding of cleaning and building maintenance services and must be willing to perform the job duties, with knowledge of how to use the machines, tools, equipment and cleaning solutions to complete job tasks. This employee is also expected to produce quality work within the pre-set time frames of the contractual agreement.
The cleaning technician must show initiatives in regard to job functions, accept new responsibilities as needed and willing to assist team members at all times. This employee is also responsible for monitoring safety of self, others and the building by locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliances used to ensure that hazards are not created before, during or after cleaning.
JOB DUTIES
The primary responsibilities of the Janitorial technician include:
a) Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them to remove all stains, drink spills, gum and other additives
b) Neutralize floors after mopping/rinsing and ensure that is done with clean water.
c) Shampoo rugs, clean and sanitize all ceramic wall tiles and spot clean wall partitions to remove marks
d) Clean windows and glass partitions to remove any spot marks, dust and surface build-up.
e) Dust and wipe window frames and ledges
f) Empty bins and replace with bin liners or garbage bags
g) Clean and sanitize telephone, desk and work surfaces
h) Clean computer and fax/copier machine
i) Wipe all chairs, cabinets, door knobs and railings if any
j) Wash down and sanitize all washroom fixtures including toilet bowls, urinals, face basins and mirrors and replenish hand soap and toilet paper when applicable.
k) Responsible for ensuring all tools and equipment are cleaned, washed or sanitized at the end of the work shift, and accounted for regardless of where the job is executed, e.g. wash cloths, mops, dusters, buckets, hoses, ladders, scrapers, empty trigger bottles, and any remaining cleaning chemicals or compounds.
l) Follow specifications for using chemicals – DO NOT OVERUSE OR MIX MORE THAT ONE TOGETHER
m) Notify Supervisor or Quality Control Officer-Maintenance concerning the need for repairs, maintenance or replacement of equipment and tools or repairs required to toilets, pipes or any other furniture and fixtures on the property where you conduct cleaning services.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Knowledge of standard methods for cleaning and sanitizing
Knowledge of sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, buffing and vacuuming
Knowledge of modern cleaning equipment and use of chemical for different cleaning functions
Knowledge of applying chemicals in a safe manner
Skilled in customer service and interpersonal relations
Ability to clean all fixtures.
Ability to maintain janitorial closets and work stations in a clean, organized and safe manner
Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work effectively individually and within a team
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to operate janitorial equipment and tools properly and safely
Ideal attributes
Must be a team player, intrinsically motivated, adaptable to changing priorities maintain a positive attitude, and have an eye for detail
Must be able to maintain a clean environment
Must be able to bend, reach, and stand for extended periods at a time
Whilst no formal qualification is required, employee must possess interpersonal relation skills, must be able to read and write and have a positive attitude
