Engineering & Maintenance Supervisor
Role Summary
The Engineering & Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising and performing maintenance operations on the property inclusive of electrical, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, carpentry, painting and other maintenance work necessary to keep the resort in optimum condition and operating at very high levels of efficiency. To ensure the safety and comfort of the guests and employees whilst achieving KPIs established for this position.
The Engineering & Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising and performing maintenance operations on the property inclusive of electrical, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, carpentry, painting and other maintenance work necessary to keep the resort in optimum condition and operating at very high levels of efficiency. To ensure the safety and comfort of the guests and employees whilst achieving KPIs established for this position.
Duties & Responsibilities of the position
- Participates with management in the planning of projects, upgrades and major repairs
- Trains, guides and coaches team members in technical skills development
- Monitors the performance and oversees the upkeep of all equipment and systems
- Ensures preventative maintenance work is conducted according to schedule and associated work orders
- Ensures emergency or break down tasks are assigned and addressed with urgency
- Reviews Work Order Management system for new or pending work orders and assigns as necessary
- Reviews technician logs and the M.O.D./Night Manager’s log daily and assigns all maintenance-related problems for immediate action
- Checks major plants such as sewage-treatment, RO, generators, boilers and interconnecting systems to ensure proper operation and maintenance
- Follows up on all maintenance requests to ensure that all work is properly completed, and a proper and timely feedback is given to the originator of the task
- Ensures team-member and equipment log sheets are completed, reviewed, addressed and filed
- Prepares employee weekly schedule and ensures adherence
- Monitors and coordinates staff activity on the various shifts
- Liaises with other departments to address defects, and other Engineering concerns
- Ensures work areas are clean and tidy after tasks completion
- Ensures that energy conservation measures and other Environmental, Health and Safety guidelines are being adhered to
- Conducts Daily Shift Line Up when necessary
- Attends HOD meetings when required
- Completes daily activity report at the end of each shift
- Provides written reports as required
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum secondary level education and/or a certificate in a field of Engineering from a recognized Vocational Training Institution
- Must possess a level of skill and/or Technical Competence
- Minimum five (5) years experience in the Hotel Industry with at least two (2) years experience in a supervisory capacity
