National Insurance Corporation - Senior Legal Counsel
Primary Responsibility
To provide expert and strategic legal services to the Corporation and its subsidiaries.
Summary of Principal Duties
- Provide legal advice to the Board and Management of the National Insurance Corporation and its subsidiaries on all aspects of the Group’s business
- Provide legal representation to the Corporation and its subsidiaries including the management of litigations and claims
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide range of legal/commercial agreements involving the Corporation and/or its subsidiaries
- Assist with debt collection and compliance matters
- Assist with legal drafting
- Liaising with the Corporation’s retained Firm of Solicitors
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with strong academic results
- Admission to the St. Lucia Bar
- Minimum of 7 years experience as a practicing Attorney
- Must possess a valid practicing certificate
Summary of Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of relevant laws applicable to the National Insurance Corporation
- Experience in the application of the Civil Procedure Rules 2000, Company, Contract, Employment and Conveyancing Law, Experience in Legislative Drafting would be an asset
- Ability to provide concise and commercially focused advice
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- The ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to function effectively in a team environment
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
