PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER
I. EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years’ experience in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing and Journalism is highly desirable. Experience and in-depth knowledge and usage of social media platforms.
SKILLS:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Demonstrated experience with the media
  • Demonstrated ability to manage Internet and intranet Web sites, experience creating content for sites;
  • Ability to work independently, manage and follow through with multiple projects
  • Excellent Organization and time management skills with ability to multitask
  • Creativity, imagination and initiative
  • Good teamwork, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Business awareness and a good knowledge of current affairs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

REPORTS TO: Public Relations Manager/Chief Communications Officer

Externally Industry Partners, Government Departments & Agencies, General Public.
JOB SUMMARY: The incumbent will work closely with their Direct Report and serve as an advocate for the organization, building and maintaining positive relationships with the main stakeholders of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority. He/She will assist in researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media; building and sustaining the company's reputation for quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Will also activate the communication plan for the introduction of the Accommodation Fee.
RESPONSIBLITIES
  1. In concert with Head of Department, activate the communication plan for the introduction of the Accommodation Fee.
  2. Implement the education and awareness program for the Accommodation Fee
  3. Assist with training session on the Accommodation Fee
  4. Assist with information and query handling for the Accommodation Fee
  5. Assist with the planning, developing and implementing PR strategies as part of its destination marketing activities.
  6. Collaborate and communicate with internal teams and key spokespeople
  7. Liaising with, and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations
  8. Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
  9. Collating and analyzing media coverage
  10. Writing and editing in-house magazines, speeches, articles and assisting with annual reports
  11. Preparing the production of promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes
  12. Devising and coordinating photo opportunities
  13. Organizing events including press conferences, exhibitions, open days and press tours
  14. Maintaining and updating information on the organization’s website
  15. Managing and updating information and engaging with users on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook
  16. Providing content for websites and social media platforms including stories, blogs, vlogs etc.
  17. Sourcing and managing speaking and sponsorship opportunities
  18. Commissioning market research
  19. Fostering community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives
  20. Managing the PR aspect of a potential crisis situation.
  21. To generally assist in the work of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority and undertake other duties which may be required from time to time as assigned by your Head of Department or CEO.
