Summary: Tapion School is now accepting applications for a First Grade TeacherΒ  beginning February 5, 2018.

The candidate will need to

  1. Be a Trained Teacher and/or have equivalent teaching experience for a minimum of 2 years at Grade K, grade 1 or grade 2
  2. Have 5 or more CXC’s including English Language
  3. 2 references including 1 from a past employer and one from someone (non-family member) who have known you for the past five years. The candidate is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating a variety of learning experiences for students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works as a positive and collaborative member of the school staff to foster the primary goals of Tapion School, with focus on planning, implementing and evaluating a variety of learning experiences for students at the primary school level.
  • Delivers effective instruction and assessment as outlined by the school’s curriculum
  • Makes long and short range plans for subject areas of instruction.
  • Provides for individual differences in the learning needs of students.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter in classroom instruction.
  • Provides a classroom climate which is based upon mutual respect, rapport, fairness and consistency.
  • Demonstrates competency in instructional skills.
  • Evaluates in terms of planned goals and revises instruction as a result of the evaluation.
  • Informs students of their progress in terms of objectives set for the lesson or course of study.
  • Interacts positively with students, professional associates, and patrons of the school including members of the School Board.
  • Performs job-related, non-teaching duties.
  • Directs student teachers, teacher assistant, tutors, and volunteers when such personnel are utilized.
  • Handles student discipline and attendance problems.
  • Participates in staff development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
