The Department of Commerce, in close collaboration with the Saint Lucia Fashion Council (SFC), is currently hosting Fashion Camp 2026. The much-needed training program, which has received a strong participatory response, runs from September 14, 2026 to September 25, 2026, at the Blue Coral Mall on Bridge Street, Castries. Fifty-seven aspiring designers, tailors, dressmakers, and hobbyists have signed on and secured program placement.
Designed to support local talent through exposure to technical and quality management best practices, drive entrepreneurial growth, and preserve cultural heritage, the camp offers a comprehensive curriculum tailored to beginners and intermediate fashion enthusiasts. Attendees receive hands-on instruction from industry professionals, gaining foundational theoretical and advanced technical skills necessary to excel in a competitive fashion industry.
The two-week program serves as an essential guide to fashion design, featuring specialized modules including:
• Sewing Machine Basics, Safety, and Stitches: Master foundational machine operations and safety protocols.
• Garment Pattern Making and Construction: Learn the technical blueprints of assembling professional apparel.
• Garment Draping Techniques: Explore 3D design manipulation directly on dress forms.
• Sip and Sew Workshops: Engage in highly creative, interactive, and collaborative design sessions.
• Crafting Madras Headwear: Preserve and innovate traditional Saint Lucian cultural attire.
