General Nursing students of the Department of Health Sciences at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College participated in a pledging ceremony on February 18.
Ninety student-nurses took the Nightingale Pledge and made a commitment to uphold the standards of nursing.
The charge to professionalism was given by the Coordinator of the Department. Lecturers and nursing students engaged in candle lighting as a symbol of team work, while the SALCC Vice Principal delivered a short motivational speech.
It is hoped that the pledging ceremony will become an annual activity, as it is part of a drive to improve the outcome of training as the Department prepares to deliver the Bachelor of Science in Nursing programme.
The ceremony was held in the Leton F. Thomas Building on the campus of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.
