To celebrate the occasion, the Castries Constituency Council partnered with Rise St. Lucia Inc. and Raj Communications to distribute over 40 grocery parcels to females working with the CCC. Mrs. Kady Rajendran of Raj Communications and Dr. Venus Cherry, Chairman of Rise St. Lucia Inc. both shared similar sentiments that women play critical roles in society and need to be motivated, inspired and uplifted. Mayor Peterson D. Francis applauded the collaborating partners for the grocery parcel donation. He urged the ladies present to “Keep your heels, head, and standards high. Let us celebrate women’s achievements, continue to raise awareness and fight inequality.” “It was Margaret Thatcher, the former PM of Great Britain that once said, ‘If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done ask a woman,’ – a thought provoking statement which is true to some extent. We commemorate a whole day dedicated to women and their achievements. Women everyday face crushing barriers to success. They confront so many issues, including gender discrimination and violence. At the Castries Constituency Council and within my office, we believe strongly in an unbiased workplace. It is so evident by the level of work and the progress of our hard-working women. As we celebrate International Women’s Day I ask everyone here to continue challenging yourself on the job,” said Mayor Francis.” Related Articles
