Job Opportunity – Assistant Accountant
The NRDF is seeking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to provide support services to the Accounts Department in its role as a provider of timely and accurate financial information and as a safe guarder of the Foundation’s assets.
The ideal candidate should be able to but not limited:
  • To assist the Accountant in the provision of timely and accurate financial information and the safeguarding of the Foundation’s assets.
  • To supervise the Accounts Clerks.
  • To maintain the General Ledger.
  • To reconcile accounts.
  • To deputize for the Accountant in his absence.
  • To ensure that cash received for the day is reconciled to the Receipts Summary/Deposit slips.
  • To prepare Journal Entries and enter same in the Computerized General Ledger.
  • To ensure that processing in other modules (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Loan Processing Software, and QuickBooks) is completed in an accurate and timely manner in order to maintain the integrity of the General Ledger.
  • To export General Ledger transactions from Loan Processing Software module and import same into the Accounting Software.
  • To process all batches monthly and present Trial-Balance to the Accountant.
  • To reconcile General Ledger accounts to subsidiary records.
  • To prepare year-end schedules for presentation to Auditors.
  • To assist the Auditors during the conduct of the annual audit.
  • To audit client’s loan files prior to disbursement.
  • To deputize as a cheque signatory when so appointed.
  • To occasionally attend to customers.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • ACCA Level 2, CGA Level 4, a degree in Accounting or Finance, or its equivalent.
  • Five years’ experience in an equivalent position.
  • Basic proficiency in `MICROSOFT EXCEL’ and ‘WORD.
  • Experience with ACCPAC, QuickBooks and other accounting packages would be an asset.
