AXCEL FINANCE DONATES COMPUTERS TO ASSIST DIGITAL EDUCATION INITIATIVES.

The Electronic Management of Information System Department at the Stanley Jon Odlum Memorial Secondary School has received a well-timed donation of three computers from Axcel Finance.

Principal of the school, Mr. Neal Fontenelle, and coordinator of the EMIS Department, Mr. James, accepted the benefaction on the school’s behalf. The contribution will assist in furthering the development of students while minimizing the digital divide.

Axcel Finance CEO, Samuel Rosenberg, reiterated Axcel’s unwavering commitment to social causes, particularly youth development and education. The microfinance institution seized the opportunity to support the Stanley Jon Odlum Memorial Secondary School by improving the school’s computer lab, as many students do not have reliable internet connectivity and home computers to facilitate distance learning.

Axcel Finance Marketing Coordinator, Jannell Etienne, said given the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent changes to schooling, not many students have been able to adjust due to factors beyond their control. She asserted that no child should be left behind. Thus it is necessary to provide students with the tools needed to prepare them for a sustainable future.

The Stanley Jon Odlum Memorial Secondary School, located in Marigot, Castries has a student population of 270. Sixty percent of those students live in Marigot and its neighboring communities.
