(Press Release) National Services Policy targets four mains sectors

The Minister with responsibility for Commerce, International Trade, Investment, Enterprise Development, and Consumer Affairs, Hon. Bradly Felix met with the Executive Board of the Saint Lucia Coalition of Service Industries last week, to discuss Saint Lucia’s new services policy.

The Minister stated that although it has been a long road, the Government of Saint Lucia is overjoyed with the passing of the National Services Policy. 

“In 2014, the Government of Saint Lucia implemented the National Investment Policy. Within that policy it was recognised that the service industry could play a bigger role in growing Saint Lucia’s economy,” he said. “As a result, work was being done in regard to developing a National Services Policy, which was passed in Cabinet last year.”

The minister went on to detail the service industries that will be directly affected by the policy.

“The National Services Policy highlights four service sectors, namely the creative industries, the ICT sector, professional service sector, and health,” he explained. “While these are very broad sectors there are a number of attributes that we will be looking at. So we have passed the policy and now, the ministry will be looking at the incentives that are to come with it.”

The meeting on the National Services Policy was convened on Feb. 6.
