Soufriere will fill its streets on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, as residents walk together against violence in the Soufriere Unity March, organised by the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) and its partners.
The march begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Soufriere Square and will continue along Bridge Street, W. Quinlan Street, Church Street and Henry Belmar Street, returning to the Square by 12:00 p.m.
The march comes as Saint Lucia continues to grapple with the toll of violent crime. Under the theme “Stronger, Safer Together,” organisers are calling on residents, businesses, schools and community groups to show up in person and make clear where Soufriere stands.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force and the Department of Crime Prevention will take part alongside other partners, a sign that safety depends on institutions and neighbours working in the same direction. Organisers stress that the march is a starting point. Lasting safety rests on the choices people make each day, the support offered to young people at risk, and the willingness to settle conflict before it turns violent.
Immediately after the march, at 12:00 p.m., a ceremony at the Soufriere Square will recognise participants who have completed the Business Certificate Programme and the Plumbing Course. Their achievements show what practical skills and real opportunities can do for a community, and why investing in young people sits at the centre of the peace effort.
