IT IS AN OFFENCE TO PURCHASE STOLEN GOODS.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force wishes to encourage the public to cease from making purchases of items from questionable sources.
The increased practice of such transactions has been noted of late and we wish to continue to implore persons to guard themselves against such occurrences. In most instances, it is actually a ruse, or the items are stolen property. There is a growing concern that persons have been transacting with residents of neighbouring countries, in the illicit trade of goods, cattle and other products, which may have been stolen within the other territories. We wish to advise all, that not only is it an offence to purchase stolen goods, but it is also an offence to purchase items which have not been duly inspected and cleared by the Customs officials. Before making the purchase of an item, please ensure that its origin is ascertained and that the transaction is legitimate.

Information reaching the organisation is that there is, in addition to the trade of goods, the illegal movement of persons from these other territories. The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force intends to enforce the laws regarding such matters to the fullest. Anyone found harbouring or aiding anyone in this unlawful act will be arrested and face prosecution. We urge compliance and thank the public for their usual cooperation.
