The Parliamentary Representative for Gros-Islet, Hon. Lenard Montoute has donated school supplies to public elementary schools in District 2. The annual initiative commenced in 2007. This year’s donation included 10,000 notebooks, school bags, lunch kits and other school supplies. Minister Montoute expressed hope that the donation will ease the burden on parents currently preparing for their children’s return to school. “Given the situation with COVID-19, there were periods when some of you had to work at home and you required devices. Schools will determine those students who are most in need of those electronic devices and, pass it on to them to assist them in carrying out their work,” he said. The Corinth Secondary School and the Sports Academy will also be receiving a quantity of notebooks. Principals and parents of the students were on hand to receive their quota of school supplies. The Principal of the Grand Riviere Primary School, Julietta Charles, expressed gratitude to the parliamentary representative for the generous donation. “You have delivered much earlier than in previous years and much more, so I really want to extend heartfelt thanks,” Principal Charles said. The handover ceremony of the donation of school supplies took place on Aug. 13, at the Gros Islet Human Resource Development Centre. Related Articles
