JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: IT Officer
REPORTS TO: General Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB PURPOSE: To be an active team member of the National Farmers and General Workers Co-operative Credit Union Limited family. To ensure the mission, vision, objectives and goals of the Credit Union are achieved and or surpassed. To provide IT support; working together with small teams of staff to deliver a professional high quality service level to members. Perform routine maintenance and monitoring of equipment and software; managing, setting up and supporting IT training suit. Working together with HR to ensure staff IT training requirements have been met.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATIONSHIPS
  1. Promote National Farmers’ and General Workers Co-operative Credit Union Limited to people as a financial institution of choice.
  2. Ensure due diligence is taken in securing any cash in your care on behalf of the NFGWCCU.
  3. All information received is kept confidential. All information received or retrieved must be kept in confidence and all necessary precautions must be taken to ensure no information is passed on to unauthorized persons.
  4. Passwords provided are kept confidential and to report any suspected breach.
  5. Records are kept accurately at all times, guard against discrepancies and exercise prudence during customer service.
  6. Ensure all reports are submitted in a timely and presentable manner as prescribed.
  7. Prepare all relevant documents with accuracy.
  8. Deployment will be based on the discretion of Management and will be required to report to any of the offices when, and if necessary, with the instruction of Management or Supervisor.
DUTIES AND TASKS
  1. Assist in the promoting of NFGWCCU;
  2. Manage information technology and computer systems;
  3. Manage, maintain and optimize local networks and server;
  4. Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations;
  5. Oversee data backup and system security operations (e.g. user authorization, firewalls);
  6. Support HR in training employees, as it relates to IT;
  7. Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures;
  8. Maintain existing and manage the installations, upgrades, and configurations of hardware and software;
  9. Assess system performance and recommend improvements;
  10. Ensure data is handled, transferred or processed according to legal and company guidelines;
  11. Control costs and budgets regarding IT systems;
  12. Responsible for managing contracts and liaising with vendors (e.g. development platforms, telecommunication companies, and software licenses);
  13. Be responsible for server and Emortelle profiles, devices and password management;
  14. Manage and maintain IT Asset Management System;
  15. Audit systems and assess their outcomes;
  16. Provide recommendations for policy and procedures for natural disaster management in relation to IT;
  17. Undergo weekly/monthly checks for functionality of supporting systems such as UPS units and generator;
  18. Undertake any other IT related tasks as per directive of your Supervisor or Management;

  2. Maintain confidentiality of NFGWCCU business and ensure strictest confidence in members’ issues and files.
  3. Maintain high quality and standards in execution of duties.
  4. Exercise good work ethics and integrity when conducting NFGWCCU business
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  1. Proven experience working in an IT role
  2. Experience with system installation, configuration and analysis
  3. Thorough knowledge of networks and cloud/remote computing
  4. Knowledge of data protection operations and legislation
  5. Knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques
  6. Leadership and organization skills
  7. Ability to provide strategic guidance and counsel to clientele in the assessment and development of existing and/or proposed systems
  8. Ability to manage multiple projects
  9. Possess great interpersonal skills
  10. Able to keep information confidential
  11. Able to provide quality Customer Service
  12. Possess good communication skills and able to articulate themselves written and orally with both external and internal customers
  13. Proactive individual
  14. Ability to work well in the best interest of the Co-operative
  15. Honesty, Reliable and Ethical individual
  16. Appropriate in conduct, with a neat and professional appearance
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1. BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field with 2 years experience in related field
OR
2. Associates Degree or CAPE certification with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in a similar role and other relevant certification.
REMUNERATION:
Salary shall be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualification and experience.
