The St. Lucia Employers’ Federation is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the position of Industrial Relations Officer with the organization.
The Industrial Relations Officer is responsible for coordinating the Industrial Relations Portfolio for members, in the interest of promoting good labor practices and harmonious relations between employers and workers/ workers’ representatives.




Duties and Responsibilities
Provide adequate advice and guidance on industrial relations matters and the St. Lucia Labor Laws, as required by Members.
Interface with Employers (CEO’s, HR Managers) on matters of Employment Policy & Labor and updates of all Labour Legislation.
Provide support and guidance to Members during the industrial relations negotiations process as required and keep accurate records.
Liaise with the Department of Labor as necessary to address Members’ concerns and ensure full compliance to Labor Laws.
Maintain a database of key contacts as references in respect of industrial relations matters.
Assist in administering Grievance procedures on behalf of Members.
Chair disciplinary hearings for Members as required and prepare accurate and appropriate Reports.
Assist with the preparation of content for the monthly Newsletter and social media posts.
Represent the Federation as required at various fora and at specified disputes being handled at the Labour Commissioner’s level or the Tribunal on behalf of members.
Prepare and submit monthly performance reports to the Executive Director.
Establish and maintain relationships with Members, Unions, The Department of Labor and other stakeholders, and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance the Federation’s mission.
Keep abreast of new developments and best practices in the HR and IR fields.
Conduct industrial relations research to inform the development of approaches/strategies to deal with specific challenges.
Comply with all the Federation’s Policies and Health & Safety Guidelines.
Perform any other related duties as may be directed by the Executive Director.
Maintain performance standards as set by the Executive Director.




Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management (HRM), Industrial Relations or equivalent qualification and training.
Five (5) years’ experience in an HRM/IR capacity.
Three (3) years’ senior management experience.
Specialized training in industrial relations would be an asset.
In-depth knowledge of Labor Laws and HR best practices.
In-depth knowledge of Industrial Relations practices.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Ability to conduct investigations and produce reports accordingly.
Good negotiating skills.
Excellent conflict management skills and creative problem-solving skills.
Advanced knowledge of and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
