Water & Sewerage Company Inc (WASCO) - Water Technician
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Water Technician, Water & Sewerage Company Inc (WASCO).
The successful applicant will be accountable to the Senior Water Technician and form part of a team of water technicians working towards achieving the following objectives:
- Follow security and safety policies and procedures in carrying out frequent analysis of both raw and treated water;
- Analyze, diagnose and perform corrective action when alarms are raised;
- Carry out treatment procedures to meet industry standards of potable water;
- Prepare stock solutions of chemicals used in the treatment of potable water;
- Carry out bench tests to determine correct chemical dosages;
- Ensure adequate disinfection of treated supply;
- Assist in all maintenance of plant, equipment and apparatus;
- Carry out physical operation of the treatment plant;
- Record all analysis and occurrences;
- Liaise with main laboratory on water quality matters.
Requirements:
- Health and Safety Awareness
- Knowledge of Plumbing
- Trouble Shooting and Problem Solving Skills.
Qualifications & Experience
Preferred Qualifications: CAPE Certification or an Associate Degree in Science (Physics and Chemistry) from SALCC or equivalent qualifications from other recognized educational institution with no experience.
OR
Minimum Qualifications: Five (5) CSEC or CXC ‘O’ Level subjects including Mathematics, English, Physics and Chemistry at General Proficiency level with three (3) years of experience.
