Southern Taxi Association - Senior Accountant
The Southern Taxi Association is seeking suitably qualified and experienced persons to join our team in the capacity of Senior Accountant.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant accounting certification
- Experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, chief or senior accountant
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- Experience with accounting software packages, particularly Sage 50 Accounting (Peachtree)
Skills/Competencies
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advance knowledge of Excel
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent at time management
- Excellent communication skills
- Works well with a team, but is also self-directed
- Strong ethical background
Responsibilities
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
- Provide technical support and advice to the management committee
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Supervise accounting and ancillary staff
- Provide input into the Association’s goal setting process
- Prepare financial statements and budget as necessary
- Prepare for the Association’s annual audit
- Plan, assign and review staff’s work
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Liaise with the management committee.
