Taiwan Vocational Training Project begins today



THE PROJECT WILL EQUIP PARTICIPANTS WITH ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS IN HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT.

Saint Lucia and Taiwan have started a new chapter in their cooperation, this time geared towards human capacity building.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China Taiwan commissioned the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund, to implement the 2018 Vocational Training Project for the Caribbean. The project aims to conduct training courses for young people from the Caribbean region.

According to Taiwanese Ambassador to Saint Lucia, H.E Douglas Chen, six participants from Saint Lucia are to benefit from a 10-week course that consists of approximately 397 training hours, in hospitality management in Taiwan. The programme will foster and equip the participants with advanced professional skills to further develop and strengthen the human resource, vocational training system in Saint Lucia.

Minister in the Ministry of Tourism, Information, Broadcasting, Culture and Creative Industries with responsibility for Culture and the Creative Industries, Hon. Fortuna Belrose, expressed gratitude to the Government of Taiwan and shared some words of encouragement with the participants. The participants left Saint Lucia on Friday, Nov. 9 to participate in the 2018 Vocational Training Project for the Caribbean. The project begins Nov. 12, and ends on January 22, 2019.
