Job Title: Accounting & Business Development Officer
Location: Hybrid (St. Lucia) — Initially remote, transitioning to 100% in-office

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced accounting professional with strong expertise in process design, documentation, business analysis, and quality assurance. This is a temporary-to-permanent role, with the opportunity to transition to a full-time position based on performance and business needs.
The ideal candidate combines advanced accounting knowledge (preferably with an advanced degree) with systems thinking and proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Meet). You will support Wayne Daniel CPA in streamlining workflows, enhancing quality governance, and driving operational excellence.
In addition to accounting responsibilities, the role supports market and business development across St. Lucia and the U.S., including stakeholder engagement and outreach initiatives. Flexibility to work extended hours (12–14 hours) during high-demand periods is required. Familiarity with remote collaboration, shared file management, and digital reporting within Google Workspace is essential. Ability to travel to the U.S. is a plus but not a requirement.
Key Responsibilities

Manage, analyze, and report on financial data using QuickBooks Online.

Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, process flows, and guidelines.

Review business systems; analyze data capture requirements, map processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose system improvements.

Develop and maintain documentation: standard operating procedures, process flow diagrams, user guides, and governance documents.

Create audit-ready documentation; assess and resolve discrepancies, track issues, and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Assist with system audits and health checks of accounting and operational systems, ensuring alignment with quality assurance standards and best practices.

Develop task, workflow, and performance dashboards and reports for management, highlighting issues, trends, and recommendations.

Collaborate via video/online meetings, screen sharing, and remote tools.

Provide business insights: monitor KPIs, prepare decision-making reports, and recommend process efficiencies.

Liaise between the accounting team, operations, IT/development, and external advisors to ensure alignment with best practices and regulatory needs.

Assist with market and business development initiatives in both St. Lucia and the U.S., including outreach, research, and stakeholder engagement.

Participate in onsite visits and meetings with key partners and clients as part of operational and market development efforts.

Assist with team supervision, scheduling, and time keeping.
Required Qualifications & Skills

Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field (e.g., M.S., M.Acc., or MBA with accounting focus) – strongly preferred.

Proven experience with QuickBooks Online (or other web-based QuickBooks platform)

Ideally setup, customization, reporting, and integrations.

Strong business analysis skills: process mapping, requirements gathering, workflow redesign, documentation of “as-is” and “to-be” processes.

Quality assurance mindset: ability to design and execute tests, audit processes, identify control weaknesses, follow up on remediation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in a remote, screen-based environment — comfortable with video calls, screen sharing, remote collaboration tools.

High level of self-motivation, ability to work independently in a remote setting (U.S. or St. Lucia time zone flexibility beneficial).

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritise in a dynamic environment.

Proven ability to create and maintain documentation (policies, procedures, process maps, user guides, training materials).

Competent with data analysis/reporting (Excel, possibly other BI tools), and translating accounting data into actionable insights.

Experience in working with or advising professional services (CPA firm or accounting operations) is a plus.

Ability to coordinate with CAFCS & Wayne Daniel, CPA U.S. Operations and adapt to cross-border reporting structures and communication protocols.

Flexibility to work extended hours (12–14 hours as needed) to meet deadlines and support business initiatives.
Preferred Additional Experience

Cloud accounting integrations (e.g., linking QuickBooks to other systems).

Experience in fully remote/virtual teams.

Familiarity with US GAAP and Caribbean accounting considerations.

Process improvement or automation experience within accounting or professional services.

Business development and client outreach experience.

Ability to travel to the U.S. for meetings or training (a plus).
Working Conditions & Expectations

Must be comfortable on-camera and actively participating in virtual sessions.

Flexible coordination across time zones (US Eastern Time + Caribbean).

Reports to Wayne Daniel, CPA, and collaborates with CAFCS St. Lucia Operations.

May require periodic field visits.
