Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Human Resource Officer, Water & Sewerage Company Inc (WASCO).
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Assist Human Resource Manager with the management of periodic performance evaluation exercises in keeping with WASCO’s policy, to ensure objectives are met.
Issue requests and reminders for the conduct of performance reviews for employees; including those on probation.
Tracks the progress of performance appraisal exercises, ensures receipt of evaluation for all employees and participation in the analysis of the data.
Analyses and summarizes the results of appraisals for decision making in regard to training, recognition, promotion, transfers, succession planning and disciplinary actions.
Arranges the logistics and participation in the orientation of new staff, as may be required.
Participates in the development, review and enforcement of related human resource management policies, procedures and processes as required and recommends improvements.
Investigates and responds to enquires and complaints from Management, staff and external parties.
Assists with the planning, organizing and execution of HR Projects and WASCO events.
Manages correspondence such as staff requisitions or any other matter as determined by the HR Manager.
Inputs generic information for staff into the Human Resource Management Information System (HRIS) and maintains database.
Administers (compensation) benefit program, including claims resolution, benefit enrolment and communicating benefit information to employees.
Acts as a liaison between employee and insurance brokers to resolve benefit related problems and ensure effective utilization of plans and positive employee relations.
Responsible for the administration of vacation leave for all employees.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Sound knowledge of all areas of Human Resource Management and its principles, policies and practices including Human Resource Information System(s).
Good knowledge of current labor legislations regulations and research techniques.
Exceptional interpersonal, communication (oral and written), presentation skills, analytical and problem solving skills, and detail oriented.
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite of programmes, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information and prepare effective, accurate and timely reports and other documents to support development objectives.
Ability to effectively manage time, multi­task and function effectively in a fast paced and demanding environment.
Ability to work in a team, and demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, integrity, respect, patience and diplomacy for colleagues and others.
Ability to use initiative appropriately on the job and to maintain confidentiality at all times.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Human Resource Management or related field. A minimum of three (3) years of Human Resources experience, OR five (5) years of experience in the HR field OR Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
Experience working within a unionized environment will be considered an asset.
Remuneration:
Salary shall be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualification and experience.
