Job Title: Senior Loans Officer II
Reports To: Loan Manager – St. Lucia Teachers’ Credit Co-operative Ltd.
Incumbent:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The incumbent is responsible for interviewing loan applicants in an efficient and effective
manner in an effort to gather information which will assist in making sound credit decisions.
The incumbent will also be responsible for marketing loan products, analyzing and underwriting
loan applications and developing loan packages for presentation to the Loan Manager with
lending limits as per the Loan Policy.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for interviewing loan applicants and provide the necessary guidance and
counseling so as to ensure accuracy of the information being provided by members.
2. Ensure that loan application is accurately completed and that all pertinent information is
available and security has been proffered and in hand prior to the processing of the
loan.
3. Responsible for evaluating and analyzing loan requests from members and preparing
applications that present sound business arguments including recommendations for
consideration by General Manager, Credit Committee and or the BOD.
4. Manage loan applications from interview through underwriting to closing, including
coordinating with the Tellers, Operations Officer and Accounts Clerk to ensure proper
loan administration. All interviews should be conducted in a courteous and professional
manner.
5. Assess collateral requirements, set payment plans for members in keeping with their
income and expenses guided by the Loan Policy.
6. To ensure that all credit reports, job letters, verification of outstanding debts, salary
deductions and all other relevant data are obtained in a timely fashion and prior to the
disbursement of the loan.
7. Responsible for ensuring that the collateral security pledged by the member/s meets the
criteria set out in the loan policy/ guidelines of the Credit Union.
8. Assist with the follow-up of the delinquent loan portfolio.
9. Meet loan production, business development, credit analysis, member relationship,
teamwork and continual improvement goals.
10. Assist with the cross-selling and marketing of the Credit Union’s products and services.
11. Must attend all scheduled loans meetings as required and provide the necessary
information for the processing of loan applications.
12. Perform any other duties as assigned by Management.
EDUCATION AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
− A degree in Business Management, Finance or a related field with minimum one year experience in a
similar role.
− Must pursue professional development
− Must have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle.
− Must have the ability to understand and analyze financial statements
− Possess a high level of confidentiality
− Must be familiar with the rules and regulations governing the Credit Union and the Law relating to Credit
Unions
− Must be willing to promote the agenda of the SLTCC
− Must be very computer literate
− Must be very bright, energetic, organized, detail-oriented and flexible
− Possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills
