Media Release: Thunderstorms expected with trough system

HEAVY SHOWERS, THUNDERSTORMS, EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
by Saint Lucia Met Services

Moisture and instability associated with a trough system and a tropical wave will continue to generate cloudy periods with showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Lesser Antilles during the next 24 hours.

An area of disturbed weather located a few hundred miles east of the Leeward Islands is expected to produce cloudy periods with scattered heavy showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds during the next few days. Environmental conditions have become less conducive for the development of this system as it moves westward to west-northwestward, passing near or north of the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, and the southeastern Bahamas.

For the Lesser Antilles, cloudy skies with scattered showers and chance of isolated thunderstorms can be expected over the Leeward Islands. Elsewhere, fair skies are expected to become cloudy at times with scattered showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms.

Forecasted for Saint Lucia over the next 24 hours are partly cloudy skies with a gradual increase in cloudiness, scattered showers, and a chance of thunderstorms.

The Nov. 13, 6 a.m. weather report will be updated at 12 noon.
