DONATION FUNDED VIA INDEPENDENCE BALL TAX CREDIT.

The Government of Saint Lucia yesterday presented the Cornerstone Humanitarian Society with a $6900 donation—a tax credit procured from the Prime Minister’s 2018 Independence Ball.

Presenting on behalf of the government, Prime Minister Hon. Allen Chastanet, said: “Since 1998, the Cornerstone Humanitarian Society and its administrator, Mr. Desmond Phillip have been providing food, shelter, and support to the homeless in our society. I have the greatest amount of respect and admiration for persons who volunteer their time and effort to assist the most vulnerable in society.”

The donation stemmed from a tax refund subsequent to the hosting of the 2018 Independence Ball.

Mr. Chastanet explained: “We were able to receive a Value Added Tax (VAT) refund from the hosting of the 2018 Prime Minister’s Independence Ball, a charitable event which helped raise EC$60,000 to support the School of Ballet and Modern Dance, the Holy Family Children’s Home and the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association.”

The donation will fund the philanthropic efforts of the Cornerstone Humanitarian Society.
