The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, Natural Resources and Cooperatives through the Water Resources Management Agency would like to inform the public that on Wednesday, December 4, a National Consultation on Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) will take place at the Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School in La Ressource. The consultation begins at 5:30 and ends at 7:30 p.m.
This event is part of a Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP) initiative to increase the resilience of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to the impacts from Climate Change. The consultant will present draft findings regarding advancing water conservation and rainwater harvesting. Topics for discussion are recommendations on: financial Incentives for RWHS, including subsidies and other mechanisms; regulatory requirements for RWHS in new construction and future development projects; and devices to improve efficiency in water usage.
Contribution by participants to this discussion will aid in the final Financial and Economic Analysis Report which captures the viewpoint from a wide gamut of key institutions, organizations, civil society and the general public. This robust document will form part of the catalyst for change in RWH usage.
