VACANCY NOTICE

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for employment in the post of HVAC CONTROLS TECHNICIAN at the Millennium Heights Medical Complex.

A.       RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATIONSHIPS

  1. The HVAC CONTROLS TECHNICIAN is responsible for the operation, maintenance and programming of the Air-Cooled Chiller Water System at Owen King European Union (OKEU) Hospital, Millennium Heights Medical Complex (MHMC).
  2. Responsible to the Chief Executive Officer.




B.   DUTIES AND TASKS

  1. Installs basic wiring and controls.
  2. Maintains sensors, thermostats, controllers, valves, actuators, motors and other HVAC control systems.
  3. Assist other HVAC Control Technician.
  4. Will work closely with engineers to ensure either new or retrofitted equipment is installed correctly and will tie back to control system.
  5. Will maintain the integrity of control system and their components documented through the preventative maintenance program.
  6. Maintain system backups and records.
  7. Assist in Backups of the Building Management System (BMS)
  8. Installs field controllers and program them
  9. Required to work On Call/ Call Outs as the need arises
  10. Willingness to work long hours to complete jobs on schedule and meet standards of quality
  11. Will receive basic traveling allowance in accordance with the terms and conditions of employment

  13. Expected to participate in prescribed short-term continuing education programs to maintain competency and to keep up to date with current practices in:
    • Sensors and motor controls o HVAC
    • Programmable Logic Control o Controls and Instrumentation
    • IT Networks, Communication and Web Design
  14. Any other duties and tasks assigned.




C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Strong background on boilers, chillers, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, with both electronic and pneumatic controls.
  2. Keen eye for details and good mechanical aptitude.
  3. Requires physical labor, such as lifting of heavy equipment parts and writing documentation, such as reports, sketches and data analyses.
  4. Basis knowledge of Electric Control, Direct Digital Control (DDC’s) and Programmable Logic Control (PLC)5.Must have worked on and have knowledge of electronic and pneumatic controls, calibration and proper use of test equipment to verify performance.
  5. Must be able to install controllers and perform basic programming.

7.Must be able to read, understand and produce drawing and specifications for control system, mechanical systems and electricals systems

  1. Basic networking experience for BacNet, TCP/ModBus, N2 and other applicable protocols




D.      QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Associates Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical  Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Auto Mechanics, Control and Instrumentation in HVAC or equivalent in years’ experience 4 years and above.

OR

 Bachelor’s Degree plus two (2) years’ experience in one or more of the  following: o Automation Engineering  o Sensor Engineering o Electronic Engineering o Electrical Engineering

  1. Must have at least 2 years’ experience with computer control of HVAC system
  2. Have at least 4 years working experience in servicing, maintaining and repairing both Electronic/ Electrical Systems and Equipment and also Mechanical Systems and Equipment.
  3. Have a good understanding of basic HVAC operations, e.g., Boilers, chillers, pumps and fan system.
  4. Need to be familiar with a preventative maintenance and work order system.

           Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience
