Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Garage Supervisor, Water & Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO).

POSITION SUMMARY

The Garage Supervisor oversees, plans, co-ordinates and directs subordinate automotive mechanics responsible for the daily running of the garage and specialist vehicle maintenance and repair establishments on all mechanical items while maintaining adequate records.

Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the successful applicant will be required to;

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, organize and coordinate the day-to-day running of the garage, e.g. by writing work orders and by arranging for garage staff to perform necessary maintenance and repair work on vehicles.

Repair, maintain and service vehicles and their mechanical and electronic components

Ensure the necessary spare parts, materials and equipment are available or obtainable at short notice.

Check the activities in the garage, inspect completed work for compliance with safety and other statutory regulations, and ensure that defects are repaired or adjusted.

Maintain records of repair and service work, and make reports to detect recurrent faults.

Conduct road test on all vehicles following inspections and repair.

Provide information to staff about latest developments, technical specifications of new vehicles, garage merchandise, etc.

Analyzes defective equipment to define cause of trouble

Adhere to all work processes and Health and Safety Standards/ Procedures.

Ensure that work areas are cleaned and well maintained.

Train employees and demonstrate repair maintenance of vehicles, use of hand tools, welding and grinding equipment if and when necessary

Evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and ensure that areas of development are identified.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL/SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Associate Degree in Auto Mechanics, Automotive Engineering or related field from a recognized institution

Experienced Driver with Valid Driver’s Licence Class/Endorsements – B, B1, C.

Proven experience as a Garage Supervisor

Ability to disassemble, inspect, calibrate and reassemble motor vehicle units and components.

Ability to create solutions to problems

Highly effective supervisory skills and techniques

Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations effectively and efficiently

Knowledge of Automotive components- theory & practice
