Position Overview
In this exciting and newly created role, Excellent Stores Saint Lucia Limited (ESSL) is seeking a self-motivated and results driven Country Manager to manage all operations of the company’s office in St. Lucia and its’ affiliated companies. The Country Manager will be responsible for revenue generation, creating budgets, building the company’s presence in St. Lucia and developing and implementing effective business to business (B2B) strategies.
This role requires an overall strategic mind as well as a hands on approach to effectively oversee the logistics, develop new business and drive the overall strategy of the company in St. Lucia. The incumbent will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer to set and achieve aggressive business growth targets through new business and current customers and function as the main point of contact for the company’s Directors.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the daily business operations to ensure a seamless workflow that focuses on the overall objective of the company.
Build and maintain country-wide relationships with local businesses, suppliers, government departments, political representatives and ensure conformity with local and international legal requirements, policies, procedures and regulations whilst projecting the desired image to achieve premier strategic positioning in St. Lucia.
Monitor performance and operational costs of ESSL, its subsidiaries and other associated companies through departmental meetings to ensure revenue targets are met.
Strategic Business Planning:
Strategically monitor and gain insight into the St. Lucia market, segmenting and qualifying the target markets to identify and execute opportunities through B2B and current customers by up selling and cross selling across businesses in St. Lucia in order to enhance revenue generation.
Continuously review the sales, marketing, pricing and distribution strategies with a view to increasing the market shares.
Produce a detailed annual business operating plan including budgets for ESSL, its subsidiaries and other associated companies.
Provide adequate and timely feedback to the Chief Executive Officer on achievements, deficiencies and challenges together with recommendations and insights on issues in order to support the decision making process to protect the overall interest and the profitability of the company.

Store Operations:
Oversee the smooth operations of ESSL, including general merchandising, marketing, promotions, inventory management, people management.
General oversight of operational budgets including analysis, reporting and action on variances to ensure the financial well-being of the company.
Work in conjunction with the Trinidad & Tobago (TT) office to assess and develop effective operational strategies that align with organizational goals in order to improve store profitability through effective inventory management, efficient processes and working with category management to understand trends and challenges.
Warehousing:
Oversee and develop strategies that contribute to the effective management of the warehouse including but not limited to warehouse layout, central receiving local, foreign imports, B2B orders, branch fulfillment, damages etc.
Accounting:
General oversight of the accounting operations including but not limited to financial reporting, accounting systems and records, audit, tax compliance etc.
Review and analyze financial statements for ESSL, its subsidiaries and other associated companies to recommend efficiencies in the use of the company resources.
Buying & Category Management:
Work with the Buying and Category Management department in TT and SLU to maximize company sales and profit through effective direction and management of the buying process.
Logistics:
Work with the local customs broker in St. Lucia and the company’s Logistics Department in TT to ensure timely delivery of goods and ensure all documentation are processed.
Human Resource and Marketing:
General oversight of the human resource management and marketing functions including but not limited to sales promotional activities, advertising, market research, company events, employee issues, payroll, organizational changes etc.
Reporting:
Continually assess company progress including sales growth or decline, new B2B leads and marketing successes and compile monthly reports to submit to the Chief Executive Officer.
Leadership and People Management:
Work closely with all relevant cross-functional departments to ensure optimal results.
Adopt a senior leadership role within the business, and in conjunction with the other members of the Management team, take ownership for executing company direction and strategy.
Drive and develop the performance of the team with a view to optimize output and achieve objectives.

Job Requirements
Knowledge/Experience
Degree in Business Management.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in general management.
Management experience in a retail or real estate environment would be an asset.
Sound understanding of business operations and systems.
Sound understanding of budgeting and financial planning.
Computer Literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
