Media Release: Submissions open for Independence Song Competition

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS JANUARY 31.

In commemoration of Saint Lucia’s 40th independence Anniversary (Feb. 22) the Independence Committee has issued a call for submissions for the Independence Song Competition.

The competition is open to musicians and creatives, with a chance to win first, second, and third place prizes of EC$8000, EC$5000 and EC$2000 respectively.

Competition rules state that songs can be of any genre, should not exceed four minutes, and must be entirely the creation and property of the entrants. Songs must be submitted via email and accompanied by a lyrics sheet.

The deadline for submissions is Jan. 31. The competition winner will be announced by Feb. 15.

Saint Lucia’s 40th Independence Anniversary is being observed under the theme “All In. Our Journey, Our Future.”
