Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre, called on citizens to uphold personal responsibility in supporting national development.

National development remains a central priority as Saint Lucia charts its path forward under the theme “Douvan Ansanm: Nourishing Our People and Strengthening Our Nation.” Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre emphasized that achieving progress requires shared responsibility between government and citizens.

The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s role in providing essential services that support the common good, including roads, ports, schools, public security, and healthcare. He underscored ongoing investments in health infrastructure, particularly the completion and transition of services at St. Jude Hospital, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage as a cornerstone of reform.

Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre, also called on citizens to uphold personal responsibility in supporting national development. He cited urgent social concerns, including reckless and drunk driving, environmental neglect, and crime, noting that vehicular accidents not only cause preventable deaths but also strain the healthcare system and drive up insurance costs.

“National development is not only about what the government provides, but also about the responsibility each citizen bears for the safety, security, and well-being of our communities,” the Prime Minister stated. He urged the public to comply with tax obligations, respect the rule of law, and preserve the environment to strengthen the nation’s resilience and prosperity.
