THE EU-SAINT LUCIA PARTNERSHIP IS AIMED AT MODERNIZING THE AGRICULTURE SECTOR.

A delegation from the European Union, along with Saint Lucia agriculture officials, recently visited the National Diagnostic Facility as part of a tour of facilities funded by the European Union.

The tour reconfirms an ongoing partnership aimed at modernizing the agriculture sector to help meet the demands of Saint Lucia’s growing agriculture economy.

EU Director General of Development Cooperation in Brussels, Mr Stefano Manservisi, in applauding the achievements in agriculture development over the years, said the EU remains committed to the region, which serves as a strategic linkage to solid value.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Barrymore Felicien, said with the commissioning of the National Diagnostic Facility later this year, the ministry will make good on its promise to put infrastructure and the necessary technology in place, that will improve the food production cycle.

The agriculture industry has benefited greatly from EU support over the years. One notable intervention was the Banana Accompanying Measures (BAM) Project, which sought to streamline diversification efforts within the sector.
