by SRDF

Recently, the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation (SRDF) embarked on a rehabilitation project on the Soufriere jetties in an effort to enhance the quality of service delivery and infrastructural safety.

โ€œThe changes were necessary in an effort to attain ISPS (International Ships and Port Facility Code) status.

โ€œSoufriere is one step closer to being ISPS compliant following the recently held training exercises and these renovations,โ€ said Dock Supervisor, Lennox Perpie.

Boat and Dock Attendant, Carter Emmanuel, said: โ€œI am pleased with this accomplishment. I would like to thank management and my colleagues for making this possible.โ€
The scope of work undertaken included the installation of solar energized security lights, the building of additional safety signs, the renovation of cleats and the relocation of a security booth at the portโ€™s Boardwalk Jetty.

Local Boat Operator, Anthony Calixte welcomed the changes.

โ€œWe need to keep our visitors safe when they come to Soufriere, he said. โ€œI am always happy when I see things evolve, because it is good to improve and keep up with the times.โ€
