A full year of activities is being planned for the celebration of Saint Lucia’s 40th anniversary of Independence. The festivities are slated to begin on Dec. 12, 2018 and culminate on Dec. 12 2019.
The Independence Day Planning Committee, headed by President of the Saint Lucia Senate, Hon. Jeannine Giraudy-McIntyre, has put out a call for the private sector to include events on the national calendar, while the Coordinator of Events, Mr. Andrew “Buffalo” Odlum said national talents will be fully utilized during the year at the various activities.
Also on the committee is Jeshurun Andrew, president of the National Youth Council. The NYC has carded a youth unity run as part of the activities. Two Youth Parliament sessions to be held in February and April of 2019 have also been planned.
