With thousands of individuals currently receiving public assistance and many more awaiting support, the ongoing reassessment remains critical to identifying vulnerable households, ensuring equitable access to assistance and strengthening the delivery of social protection services.
Central to the success of this nationwide initiative is public cooperation. Permanent Secretary of the Department of Equity, Social Justice, Gender and Older Persons, Esther Rigobert, is therefore appealing to residents to support enumerators conducting household assessments, emphasizing that their participation is vital to ensuring that assistance reaches those most in need.
“We have many enumerators in the field this week, and the exercise will continue for several weeks. We kindly appeal to you to cooperate with them. They are carrying out their duties as part of this exercise. We are collecting accurate and timely information to update our social protection system and the database of persons who need assistance from the State,” Permanent Secretary Rigobert explained.
The Department urges PAP beneficiaries and persons on the waiting list to make themselves available during household visits and provide complete and accurate information.
Their participation will help ensure that public assistance is guided by current household needs and directed to those facing the greatest hardship.
