Water & Sewerage Company Inc (WASCO) - Mechanical Engineer
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Mechanical Engineer, Water & Sewerage Company Inc (WASCO).
The successful applicant will form part of a team of engineers working towards achieving the following objectives:
  • To ensure that all WASCO’s mechanical plants, vehicles, electromechanical equipment, structures, grounds and installations are adequately maintained;
  • Organize routine servicing schedules;
  • To co-ordinate the installation and troubleshooting of all electrical, mechanical and electromechanical equipment;
  • Development and implement work processes, and standards for Health and Safety and ensure Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering compliance;
  • Research, plan, design, build (where necessary), install, operate, maintain and evaluate mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes as necessary, applying knowledge of engineering principles;
  • Oversee the investigation of equipment failures to diagnose faults in operation, and supervise the maintenance crew in remedying the problem;
  • Establish and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize loss of production/productivity.
Requirements:
  1. Excellent communication, leadership, project management, and organizational and problem solving skills;
  2. Ability to manage and review the work of subordinates and to promote effective working relationships within and outside the organization;
  3. Ability in Information Technology;
  4. A high level of technical and scientific knowledge.
Qualifications & Experience
Preferred additional qualifications; A Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with emphasis on Maintenance Engineering or Equipment.
OR
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 3 years’ post-qualification experience.
Remuneration
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. The post is a contractual position, with renewable fixed-terms.
