Applications are invited form persons with suitable qualifications to fill the position of “Regulatory Compliance Officer” at our Republic bank (EC) Limited, RBEC, Head Office - Rodney Bay, St. Lucia
The job holder is responsible for supporting the development of adequate strategies and controls related to the Regulatory Compliance Management program for RBEC and its subsidiaries and branches.
The Officer supports the Retail & commercial business lines and insurance, with focus on statutory and legal regulations, guidelines and policies in Anguilla, Dominica, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Kitts & Nevis within which RBEC is to be compliant. The Regulatory Compliance Officer provides support in ensuring that RBEC is compliant with all regulations and laws affecting and that the group maintains a favourable position with its contractual obligations as well as to provide solutions to issues with its customers
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct ongoing research to detect changes in statutory and legal regulations, and identify compliance areas in territories in which RBEC operates:
    • Draft or review policies and procedures to ensure that the group is compliant with the statutory and legal obligations
    • To keep abreast and monitor any new/revised statutory and regulatory requirements and emerging issues and trends to ensure ongoing awareness and compliance
    • Remain current with regulations through ongoing review of publications, websites, participation in industry associations, contact with Regulators, liaison with counsel and auditors
  • Perform quality assurance (QA) checks on branches and subsidiaries of RBEC periodically via data gathering and analysis to assess compliance with statutory and legal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and requirements indentified on the various compliance returns
    • Prepare interim and end of year QA reports after quality assurance visits or checks are completed
    • Perform quality assurance checks by following up with branches and subsidiaries of RBEC for evidence to confirm that regulatory filings and payments are submitted within deadline
  • To perform regulatory filings on behalf of RBEC and or to remind/liaise with the relevant departments to ensure that regulatory filings are done on a timely manner in order to meet statutory deadlines
  • Provide support in preparing general reviews or opinions on Acts and Bills passed within the RBEC and subsidiaries territories which will impact or affect the operations of the RBEC
  • To assist the Senior Manager Compliance in the dispatch of her/his duties
Qualifications and Experience
  • Legal Education Certification or a First Degree in Banking/Compliance/Legal Field. MBA in related field would be an asset
  • In depth knowledge of legal/compliance and corporate law, banking, finance and insurance
  • Experience of at least 2 - 3 years in the Regulatory/Compliance
  • Strong proficiency in computer literacy and Microsoft Suite
