by Office of The Prime Minister

Prime Minister Honourable Allen Chastanet held a very productive meeting yesterday with Prime Minister of Canada the Honourable Justin Trudeau.

The two leaders discussed several issues including climate change and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and notably Canada’s leadership on that issue. Prime Minister Chastanet also raised the issue of financial services and opportunities for the strengthening of the Canada – Saint Lucia, and wider CARICOM relationship.

While in Ottawa, Prime Minister Chastanet also met with Mr. Carl Marcotte and Mr. Ian McLeod, President and CEO and Vice President of Business Development, respectively, of the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC).

The CCC supports Canadian companies doing business internationally. Prime Minister Chastanet travelled to Canada from Washington DC where earlier in the week, he met with the World Bank and executives of companies interested in Saint Lucia. Prime Minister Chastanet also met with Sunwing Vacations in Toronto on December 18th. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Ambassador to the United Sates, H.E. Anton Edmunds who is also Saint Lucia’s High Commissioner to Canada.
