SAINT LUCIA CELEBRATES FEB. 22 WITH AN INDEPENDENCE PARADE, A NATIONAL RALLY, AND LIVE PERFORMANCES DURING THE BEST OF SAINT LUCIA SHOW.

Sen. Hon. Fortuna Belrose, the Minister for Culture, has acknowledged Saint Lucia’s 39th Anniversary of Independence.

The minister said it is the ideal time to reflect upon the country’s accomplishments.

“We are 39 years old and it is generally accepted that if you are 39, you should have determined a path for the future. Our nation is 39 and it is indeed a unique occasion for us. We will never again be 39, so we must reflect on the occasion and celebrate how far we have come.”

The Independence anniversary celebrations, like last year, will be observed under the continued theme, ‘I Am Saint Lucia.’

“I want to establish the continued relevance of our theme,” the minister said. “Last year we made a decision to establish a theme that could be used over multiple years. The theme ‘I Am Saint Lucia’ does just that. It evokes reflection and debate. It inspires confidence and pride.”

The Government Information Service (GIS) will provide all-day LIVE coverage of the Independence Anniversary celebrations.

Activities begin with the Independence Parade at 8:30 a.m. The National Rally follows at 11 a.m., and the curtains come down on the celebrations with the Best of Saint Lucia show scheduled from 5 – 9 p.m.

Viewers can tune in to the National Television Network (NTN) on Spectra channel 2, FLOW channel 122, LIME digital channel 122, and LIME analog channel 37.

The proceedings will also be streamed live via the—
