ACTIVITIES WILL BE HELD IN BABONNEAU, MABOUYA VALLEY, MICOUD, SOUFRIERE, AND CANARIES, AMONG OTHERS.

A sitting of the House of the Senate took place on June 12, where the Minister for Culture detailed plans to make Carnival 2018 a resounding success.

Sen. Hon. Fortuna Belrose spoke on the accomplishments being made with carnival now playing a vital role as part of the Soleil Saint Lucia brand.

“This is the second year that we are doing Carnival under the Soleil banner,” she said. “We are happy to say that we are pleased with the progress that we have made in that regard, in terms of delivering a carnival to the people, that is for the people and by the people.”

The senator went on to detail the inclusion of all communities within Saint Lucia as part of the event.

“What we have been able to achieve this year is to get 10 major communities across the country involved in the celebrations, which is what we always wanted, to ensure that the program is decentralized across the country and that people are a part of it. “The celebrations will span two and a half months and there will be activities from Gros Islet, to Babonneau, Mabouya Valley, Dennery, Micoud, Soufriere, Canaries, Anse la Raye, as well as Roseau. So we are looking forward to a great celebration and from all indications we are on track in terms of the deliverables.”
