HIS EXCELLENCY MR. JESUS SIERRA VICTORIA SAID THE OCCASION ALLOWS SAINT LUCIA AND PANAMA TO REVITALIZE DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS.

Saint Lucia and Panama sought to reinvigorate diplomatic ties through the presentation of credentials by the Ambassador-designate of Panama to Saint Lucia.

His Excellency Mr. Jesus Sierra Victoria, presented his letters of credence to Saint Lucia’s Governor General His Excellency Sir Neville Cenac, at a brief ceremony, which took place at Government House on April 3.

His Excellency Mr. Jesus Sierra Victoria affirms that this occasion allows Saint Lucia and Panama to revitalize their diplomatic relations, formed 33 years ago via the Association of Caribbean States (ACS).

“We realize that we must change the policy of the past and strengthen the bonds of friendship and co-operation between our people and our governments,” he said. “To develop a common agenda, it is necessary to remember that we have maintained a multi-lateral integration agenda through the SICA (Central American Integration System and CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States), but now it is necessary with this accreditation to work in areas that are of interest for both of us.”

“Your presentation shows your achievements to be our goals and dreams,” Governor General Sir Neville Cenac noted. “The margin of co-operation between us is wide. In this regard, security, tourism and education have been highlighted as areas in which Panama and Saint Lucia can work together,” Sir Neville said.

“I note too, your culinary talents, and your apparent desire to have us commit gastronomical suicide,” he jested. “Should such be the case, Nina Compton, whose culinary fame in the United States has brought as much pride to us as have our Nobel Laureates, is there to defend us. It is there alone, I think we can be of the greatest benefit to you, in culinary arts.”
