Media Release: Levern Spencer to receive special homecoming

SPENCER WON GOLD IN THE HIGH JUMP CATEGORY AT THE XXI COMMONWEALTH GAMES.

Saint Lucian high jumper, Levern Spencer, will arrive in Saint Lucia today, to a hero’s welcome celebration.

Spencer won gold last weekend in the high jump at the XXI Commonwealth Games held in Australia, making history in the process.

Spencer, who prior to this year’s Commonwealth Games was a two-time bronze medalist at the event, leapt 1.95 metres this time around, to clinch the gold for Saint Lucia.

Levern Spencer will be greeted by government officials as well as members of the sporting fraternity and other officials when she arrives at the Hewanorra International Airport at 2 p.m on Thursday, April 19.

Saint Lucians are invited to turn out in large numbers for the motorcade which will follow the champion’s arrival at the Hewanorra International Airport. The public is also invited to the grand celebration event at the Derek Walcott Square from 4 p.m.
