Media Release: Health facilities undergo repair work

WELLNESS CENTRES WILL BE CLOSED FOR RETROFITTING WORKS UNDER SMART HEALTH FACILITIES PROJECT.
by Ministry of Health

As of December 10, 2018, the Vieux Fort, Saltibus, La Fargue, Mongouge and Bexon Wellness Centres will be closed for retrofitting works under the SMART Health facilities project as the Department of Health and Wellness aims towards safer, greener and more sustainable health facilities.

The scope of works include repairs; making the facilities more energy efficient; environmentally friendly and better able to adapt to the effects of climate change.

As a result, health services will be redirected as follows:

Vieux Fort Wellness Centre will be relocated to a building on Clarke Street, opposite the Ideal Bakery (corner of Clarke Street and Luther King Street). Residents from La Fargue and Mongouge can access services either at Etangs Wellness Centre or Soufriere Hospital. Residents from Saltibus can access services at the Laborie Wellness or Vieux Fort Wellness Centre. Residents from Bexon can access services at Ciceron, Vanard or Castries Wellness Centre.

Clients are also free to access services at any of the other Wellness Centres during this time. Outreach clinics and home visits will continue in the various communities.

Vieux Fort Wellness Centre will undergo full retrofit and will be closed for approximately six (6) months. Saltibus, La Fargue, Mongouge and Bexon will be undergoing small SMART interventions, and therefore will be closed for approximately three (3) months.

The Department of Health and Wellness is seeking support of the general public, especially those from the communities that are affected during this time. The Department apologies for any inconvenience caused as a result of the changes.

For more information, please feel free to contact the Community Health Nursing Service atย 468-5321.
