The Ministry of Health and Wellness recently celebrated its vaccination achievements and raised awareness about the importance of immunization, as part of activities in observance of Vaccination Week of the Americas.
This year, the ministry hosted a motorcade which began at the Castries waterfront, and ended at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort.
Immunization Manager, Julietta Frederick-Cassius, said the event aimed to highlight the benefits of immunization and its widespread availability.
“Wellness Centers throughout the island can provide information on whether you are fully vaccinated. Vaccines do work Saint Lucia, please get vaccinated.”
The Director of the Bureau of Health Education, Natasha Lloyd-Felix said, while Vaccination Week has ended, the potential to contract diseases and access health services, remain.
“The intention is to continue to encourage persons to access the services and so in the coming weeks we will continue promoting vaccines. Everyone can access the service. It is free and community Wellness Centres are well-qualified to provide the information required.
Vaccination Week was observed from April 21 – 28. It was held under the theme “Strengthen Your Defense, Get Vaccinated, Vaccines Work.”
