A cohort of poultry farmers from across the island recently ended twelve weeks of Farmer Field School training on poultry production.
The training began in November of 2017 and ended in January 2018, during which the farmers received instruction in a number of areas relating to poultry production.
The exercise was conducted jointly by the Veterinary and Livestock Services Division of the Department of Agriculture, and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) with funding coming from the India, Brazil and South Africa Trust Fund.
A graduation ceremony, held on April 4, at the conference room of the Meat Processing Facility in Vieux Fort, marked the official end of the training program.
Twenty-two individuals from within the poultry industry received certificates demonstrating their success. The graduates were pleased to have acquired new skillsets that they can harness to improve production at their enterprises.
