Media Release: Education Minister extends condolences

A TRAGIC INCIDENT CLAIMED THE LIVES OF TWO STUDENTS AND ONE PROFESSOR OF SPARTAN UNIVERSITY.

Minister for Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development, Hon. Dr. Gale Rigobert, has extended her deepest sympathy and that of her ministry to students and faculty of the Spartan Health Sciences University, following the tragic drowning of three of their own last weekend.

Dr. Rigobert indicated that the incident, which occurred off the Cannelles coastline, was a very unfortunate one, claiming the lives of two students of the institution and one professor.

“Our hearts go out to the staff and students of Spartan University, as well as the family and friends of the deceased. This is truly a very sad and tough period for students and faculty, and we at the Ministry of Education extend our sincere condolences to them. We pray for God’s guidance and comfort, through this extremely difficult time,” Dr. Rigobert said.

The Education Minister called on Saint Lucians to remember the students and faculty of the Spartan Health Sciences University in their prayers, as they go through this difficult period.
