Position Summary:    The IT Technician is responsible for providing reliable technical support to internal users and external support customers by diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining hardware, software, network, and related technology systems. The role ensures service requests and incidents are resolved efficiently, professionally, and in line with agreed service standards, while helping maintain secure, stable, and effective IT operations.

Key Task and Responsibilities:        

IT Technician

Provide first-line and second-line technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, applications, and network connectivity issues.

Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware, operating systems, software applications, peripheral devices, and basic network equipment.

Diagnose technical faults, identify root causes, and deliver timely resolutions in accordance with defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Set up user accounts, access permissions, email profiles, workstations, and other IT resources in line with company procedures and security requirements.

Support system security by assisting with antivirus updates, endpoint protection, password resets, patching, backups, and basic data protection practices.

Maintain accurate technical documentation, asset records, service notes, troubleshooting guides, and user support instructions.

Provide clear and professional communication to users, keeping them informed of ticket status, expected resolution times, and any required follow-up actions.

Escalate complex or recurring technical issues to the Technical Services Supervisor, Manager, or appropriate specialist while ensuring continuity of support.

Participate in after-hours support, planned on-call duties, system maintenance activities, and other IT service-related assignments as required.

Qualifications, Experience & Education:  

 

Minimum 5 CXCs inclusive of Mathematics and English.

Associate degree, diploma, or equivalent certification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field.

Minimum of two years’ experience in an IT support, helpdesk, desktop support, field technician, or similar technical role.

Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, user account administration, hardware troubleshooting, printers, peripherals, and basic networking.

Experience using IT service management or ticketing systems, including SherpaDesk or similar platforms, would be an asset.

CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, Cisco, Fortinet, AWS, or other relevant technical certifications would be an asset.

Strong communication, customer service, time management, and problem-solving skills.
