Education:
- Secondary School Education
 - Vocational experience or other experience in auto/diesel mechanics is required in lieu of high school diploma
 
Training/Experience Required:
- Four to Five years in auto and diesel mechanics
 
Special Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
- Must have knowledge of both gas and diesel engines, transmissions, Suspension, brakes, electrical and test equipment, air tools, jacks, etc and automotive equipment and tools.
 
Communication Skills: 
- Basic communication skills to exchange information, give/receive simple instructions, and respond to inquiries (includes filling out forms (both paper and electronically).
 - Reads and interprets routine written or printed materials such as basic schematics, manuals, charts, diagrams, maps, or instruction materials.
 - Friendly and politer attitude to greet and communicate with customers.
 
Responsibilities:
- Uses tools or equipment with expertise acquired through extensive experience and/or specialized training.
 - Diagnose problems, conduct test drives, etc before and after repair to ensure proper working order.
 - Must be able to trouble shoot, and make any necessary repairs to various brands and types of vehicles.
 - Perform periodic preventive maintenance to fleet vehicles.
 - Must be able to check fluid levels, brakes, tire condition, tune ups, lubes, etc.
 - Perform minor repairs to lights, switches, flat tires, etc.
 - Perform inspections to vehicles for road safety.
 - Maintains a clean service centre, parking lot, and front office.
 - Maintains tools and parts in a safe and clean manner.
 - Performs other duties as assigned.
 - Must be able to use power tools, equipment and machinery, work in the outdoors with temperature changes, drive motorized equipment
 
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- The employee must be able to stand/walk 6-8 hours per day. Employee’s job requires frequent to continuous bending/stooping, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling and frequent reaching above the shoulders; frequent pushing/pulling.
 - Employee’s job requires frequent carrying/lifting in order to transport parts/tools, brake drums, disk brake rotors, axles, flywheels, tires, batteries, etc.
 - Employee must possess manual dexterity/visual ability sufficient to work in, around, and under vehicles safely and efficiently.
 - Possess hearing/speaking ability to communicate with workers, hear engine noises to diagnose problems and to avoid danger.
 - Must be able to handle exposure to gas, dust, exhaust fumes, gases, battery acids, etc.

 - Must have self-discipline and effective problem solving are necessary to diagnose problems and to anticipate potential concerns.

 - Must be able to cooperate with other staff members and have a positive attitude towards management, staff, customers, and the public.
 
Supervision exercised:
- Employee does not provide direct supervision over staff and reports to the Managing Director.
