THE TWO OCCURRED JUST MINUTES APART AND NOT FAR APART.
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Tuesday October 24, 2018ย โ On the heels of two earthquakes over the weekend, two more tremors occurred west of Trinidad and Tobago late last night, just minutes apart.
The first, a 5.1 magnitude tremor, occurred at 11:37 p.m. located 88 km west southwest of the capital, Port of Spain; 91 km west north west of San Fernando; and 110 km east southeast of Carรบpano in Venezuela.
Just four minutes later, a quake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale was recorded not far away. It was located 50 km southwest of Port of Spain, 58 km northwest of San Fernando, and 74 km west southwest of Arima, Trinidad and Tobago.
There were no reports of damage or injuries from either quake.
Last weekend, as the twin-island republic was trying to cope with flooding caused by torrential rain, two quakes also struck โ first a 4.2 magnitude quake 166 km northeast of Scarborough, on Saturday afternoon and less than 24 hours later, a second, of 5.1 magnitude, 78 km northeast of Scarborough; 161 km northeast of Arima; and 181 km northeast of the capital.
