Representatives of two immigrant associations on island have welcomed the passage of a Bill to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants, which was passed in the Lower House on Thursday.
Guyana’s Honorary Consul to Antigua & Barbuda, Robert Reis, along with trustee of the United Vincentian Association, Joey “Hungry Bird” Medica, both expressed satisfaction that Parliament has given the nod to the Immigration and Passport (Amendment) Act 2015.
Additionally, the proposed law seeks to allow non-nationals, who currently abide here lawfully but who have had gaps in their time, to pay for such and have the time considered lawful.
