Media Release: Saint Lucia records eight new cases of COVID-19

THE NUMBER OF ACTIVE CASES HAS BEEN REDUCED TO 389.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Monday, October 25, 2021 confirms a total of eight new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 102 samples which were collected between October 22 and October 24, 2021. This number of positive cases makes up 7.8% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in-country to date to 12,433.



The Ministry of Health also reports six (6) new COVID-19 deaths and three (3) COVID-19 related deaths. These deaths occurred between September 29 and October 17, 2021. To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in-country is 190 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 60.
COVID-19 death #185 is a 72 year old male from the Vieux Fort district. COVID-19 death #186 is a 59 year old male from the Vieux Fort district. COVID-19 death #187 is a 91 year old female of the Laborie. COVID-19 death #188 is a 76 year old female from the Vieux Fort district. COVID-19 death #189 is a 82 year old male from the Castries district. COVID-19 death #190 is a 55 year old male from the Vieux Fort district.



COVID-19 related death #58 is a 58 year old male from the Babonneau district. COVID-19 related death #59 is a 90 year old male from the Dennery district. COVID-19 related death #60 is a 75 year old female from the Anse La Raye district.
The Ministry of Heath extends sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of these individuals.
Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 10 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 389. Currently, one (1) individual is in critical state and six (6) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.
To date, a total of 36,615 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 31,242 have received the second dose. A total of 13,681 individuals have received the first dose and 8,559 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.



Vaccinations will continue tomorrow Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the Vigie Sports Complex, Micoud Multi-purpose Center, Vieux Fort RC Parish Hall, La Ressource Constituency Council and Gros- Islet Human Resource Center. The vaccine will also be distributed at People’s Discount Drugstore on Victoria Street, Castries by appointment only. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 5 pm.
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs will continue providing daily updates to the public as new information becomes available.
